John Abrahamson is the International Tax Director at Sheltons-SITTI in Denmark. John has 21 years experience in international taxation, including eight years experience in structured finance as an Executive with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia in Sydney and as a Director of the Bank’s subsidiaries in Malta, six years experience in Australian and international tax with Arthur Andersen and Baker & McKenzie in Australia, and six years in Hong Kong and international tax with Arthur Andersen and KPMG in Hong Kong.

John has provided advice on mergers and acquisitions for Australian and international clients, including; US power generation interests, US aircraft manufacturer acquisitions, German airline acquisitions, Taiwan iron and steel interests, spectrum licences for Hong Kong interests, satellite finance for Australian interests, undersea fibre-optic communications for Japanese interests. In addition he has advised on taxation for new Australian gas pipeline projects, taxation for UK interests in offshore gas production in Australia, Australian and international taxation for large structured finance transactions with Australian, US, UK, French and German banks. John has also advised on tax planning on Public Private Partnerships for infrastructure projects in Australia, and obtained new product approvals for Australian banks from the Australian Tax Office.

Whilst based in Australia, John has presented International Taxation Courses for Sheltons- SITTI for over seven years in many locations including London, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Zurich, Paris, Nice, Rio de Janeiro, Sydney, Jersey, Lugarno, Singapore and Hong Kong. He has also presented on mergers and acquisitions and on the Taxation of Electronic Commerce for Baker & McKenzie in Hong Kong, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur.

John has a Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Adelaide, and Master of Laws from Monash University in Melbourne. He is admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia. John is a Member of the International Fiscal Association and the Law Institute of Victoria, and Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia.
